Business immigration to Italy

One of the most popular ways to obtain a residence permit and citizenship in Italy is through opening a company, doing business, commercial activities, the so-called Business immigration. You can register a company in Italy, be a co-founder in an Italian company or buy a ready-made company with the necessary license.

To conduct professional activities, it is necessary to obtain an appropriate license, there is also an option for a company that does not require such a license, for example, the implementation of intermediary activities. As a founder or co-founder, you get a residence permit for yourself and your family members. Within 5 years, you confirm your income, the status of an entrepreneur and apply for a permanent residence permit (PRP).

In Italy, there is a fairly wide range of options and opportunities for doing business. As a result of a series of reforms, the procedure for starting and doing business in Italy has been streamlined and simplified, for example, by reducing the minimum amount of capital required and the minimum amount of payment of authorized capital, as well as by streamlining the procedures for registering companies.

Doing business is possible in the form of individual entrepreneurship or a legal entity. Both options are governed by the Italian Civil Code.

An individual can do business individually or create a new company, or purchase shares/participatory interests in an existing company. All these opportunities are available both for citizens of the EU countries and for citizens of other states.

• Individuals and legal entities from EU countries and countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) in the context of investing in a new or existing company are treated as Italian citizens and are given the same unlimited opportunities to do business in the country.

• Individuals from countries outside the EU and the European Economic Area must have a valid Italian residence permit or citizenship of a country with which Italy has entered into an agreement.

All information on this issue is available on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
